4 absolute easy habits to keep patchy skin away!

How many times have you felt down due to patchy skin? The first step to treat any skin problem is to take care of the basics. 80% of the complaints of patchy skin can be treated by the following ways! Congratulations! Happy and healthy skin is all yours!

The most important point to remember! Skincare is not a magic.. You need at least 3 months to good care to get noticable result! Sounds tough? But it is worth the patience!

Reason 1: Not using sunscreen regularly.

More than 80% of skin damage is environmental, sunrays being a major contributor. Prevents facial brown spots (uneven pigmentation) and skin discolorations. This is a major problem specifically for ageing skin.

Remedy: Use sunscreen and RE-APPLY!

In India, for best protection, experts recommend using a minimum SPF sunscreen of 15-20 applying the proper amount (2mg/cm2 of skin, or about one ounce for full body coverage), and reapplying every 2 hours. Remember, oily skin is happy with gel formula products!

Reason 2: Not cleaning regularly.

How clean do you think your skin is at the end of the day? Moving around in dust, smoke and traffic makes skin dry, dull and lifeless. Moreover, dirt of physiological origin, like sweat, sebum, dead skin cells and microbes may affect skin’s health. Regular exposure to all these factors aggravates skin and permanently damages its texture.

To preserve a healthy looking, radiant skin, we should constantly take care of it. Regular cleansing removes impurities, leaving skin clean and refreshed. Thus, helps our skin absorb the beneficial ingredients of other face care products more easily.

Remedy : Keep your face clean.

Choose a gentle facial cleanser to remove impurities without over-drying and stripping skin of its natural moisture. Make sure to choose a cleanser suitable for your skin type; a creamy cleanser if you have dry skin or a gel, foamy cleanser if you have oily skin. Clean your face twice a day! It is important to cleanse your skin every night to remove make-up, impurities, dead skin cells, and excess oil. But a morning cleansing is also beneficial, as it removes any toxins the skin eliminates during the night and refreshes the skin, preparing it for make-up application.

Reason 3: Not scrubbing properly and regularly.

It is accepted beyond words that cleaning the skin is important but a lot of us have neglected the importance of facial scrub and never use it frequently, and of course, I heard so many complain like, “Why is my skin so rough”, “Why my face complexion is so dull?” and the most common of all, “I have so many blackheads!”.

Remedy : Use a suitable scrub regularly!

To maintain the glow on your complexion and to avoid your blackheads growing, start finding a suitable scrub for yourself today! Make sure you are regular and gentle in the practice. You can do this about 2 to 3 times a week depending on your skin type and condition. People with oily skin for example can get away with using a face scrub 2 to 3 times a week. However, those with dry skin should probably exfoliate only once a week. Excessive use will actually harm the skin rather than improve it. The skin will dry out, because the natural oil that it produces will be stripped away and the skin will become ‘flaky’.

Reason 4: Insufficient moisturization.

We have different excuses for not moisturizing our skin! “It’s too hot!”.. “Yew! How humid it is today!”.. “My skin is oily, I don’t need moisturizer.” But are we are aware that lack of moisturization is often a major cause of patchy skin? All skin-types need moisturization throughout the year!

Remedy : Moisturize regularly with a suitable product!

Regularly using lotion and moisturizer should be a part of any good skin care regimen, but some are better than others. Choose a lotion that is oil free, non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores), allergy and dermatologist tested. The dry skin beauties can go for a heavier version but gel formula work best for oily skin.
