  • Use a salt or sugar scrub regularly on your hands, palms and feet and it will help you to avoid the build-up of dead, hardened layers of skin. Mix some sugar or salt in with some olive or coconut oil, and the scrub will gently exfoliate the skin and moisturize it at the same time. If you are too busy for a DIY recipe don’t forget to try the ready-to-use scrubs flooding the market. . If you have layers of dead skin, no emollient will be able to reach the fresh skin beneath and hence the eternal disappointment of dry skin.
  • For stubborn hard dead skin of feet – A good tip is to remove all the dry and hard skin from the soles and sides of your feet, using a pumice stone and the file. Removing the hard skin will also remove the unpleasant cracks and instantly improve the health and the appearance of your feet and create a clean layer for the creams and oils to be soaked in.
  • Nothing like an occasional massage with oils like olive oil, almond oil, sesame oil or coconut oil or a thick emollient like Shea butter. Apply the oil, massage in and cover with socks and gloves, so you can leave it all night and it will quickly bring back that smooth and soft feel to your hands and feet.
  • Does the term “petroleum jelly” sound tacky? In fact, it is not. At night, once you put your usual foot or hand cream, you can put a thin layer of the jelly which seals the cream and helps the skin to absorb it well. Good if you wear cotton socks or gloves to maximize the effect.
